Christmas season is a time when everything get hectic. Amidst the rush we have available to us PEACE. The time to get ahead of the rush is very simple. Not just this time of the year but it is a everyday occurrence.
In the Gospel of Matthew the night our Savior was born here is what the shepherds encountered. Matthew 2 8 -18: Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9) And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10) Then the angel said them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11) For there is born to you this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12) And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." 13) And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14) Glory to God in the highest, AND ON EARTH, PEACE, GOODWILL TOWARD MEN!" 15) So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." 16) And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17) Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18) And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
As we embrace the season of Christmas the night Jesus was born into the world peace was released in the earth realm through our Savior Jesus. The shepherds had the opportunity to hear the news first that peace and goodwill was available to all men. When they saw the babe, they realized they had experienced the miracle of the gift of eternal life which would be available to every who would receive the Savior into their life. The babe who was born grew up to be the Savior who would bring salvation to all. No one has to be without peace. Jesus is the way to have total peace in this world. Troubles all around us but we have peace that's found only in Him.
In order to have this peace we have to receive Jesus into our hearts. John 1:12 says, as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. And in the book of Romans 10:9, 10 - 13 which says, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. and verse 13) For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Receive the peace that is given to all who will embrace Jesus Christ our Savior. The greatest gift has been given to all who is Christ our Lord. When we receive Him in our lives and begin each day in prayer and fellowship with our Lord, He fills our hearts with peace that carries us through our day.
Before he went to the cross he encouraged the disciples to remember these words in John 16:33 which says, "these things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
May your Christmas season be blessed as you rest in His peace. Shalom!
Isaiah 9:6 - For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
